Choose Local First
The Kenora & District Chamber of Commerce launches new initiative. KENORA, ON: October 18, 2021 – The Kenora & District Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce a new shop local campaign to run October through January 2022. This was made possible through the funding support of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce and the Government of Canada and collaboration with the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce.
Choose Local First will touch the regions of Kenora, Fort Frances, Dryden, Red Lake, Sioux Lookout, Ear Falls and Sioux Narrows. It is a campaign designed to help local businesses in the recovery of the pandemic and will bring awareness to the impact of shopping local; keeping the dollars in the community, strengthening the tax base, providing jobs and supporting the local community initiatives and events. Several local businesses in all of the regions will be highlighted and reasons why people choose local will be the main messaging through an integrated media campaign including radio, newspaper, social media and digital.
Andy Scribilo, President of the Kenora & District Chamber of Commerce says ”We are so pleased to be able to bring this important initiative to our region. Small businesses are at the heart of our communities and so many are facing challenges and have been impacted in several ways due to COVID -19. Advocating for our members is one of our primary mandates so this opportunity to highlight our regional Chambers’ members and use their services at a time when they need it most is gratifying to be part of. We are asking the public to take notice and rethink your shopping habits as
these businesses are cornerstones of our local economies and a key to keeping our communities thriving.”
